French Polishing
Pembroke Mahogany Drop Leaf Table
This stunning piece came into our workshop for a full strip and French polish. It was in dire need of restoration due to its dark stain, water damage and build-up of dirt.
The table top had beautiful figurings which we needed to make a feature of and what a transformation it was.
Once stripped, I neutralised with a thinner, gave the period piece a light sand maintaining its character and then added a Jenkins antique mahogany grain filler. Once dry I applied a light van dyke wash which I do with all mahogany furniture and proceeded to French polish finishing in a dark beeswax.
