French Polishing
Edwardian Flame Cut Mahogany Chest Of Drawers
This stunning piece came into our workshop for a full strip and French polish. It was in dire need of restoration due to it’s overly dark stain and build up of dirt.
The drawer fronts were flame cut mahogany which we needed to make a feature of and what a transformation it was.
Once stripped, I neutralised with a thinner, gave the period piece a light sand maintaining its character and then added a Jenkins antique mahogany grain filler. Once dry I applied a light van dyke wash and proceeded to French polish finishing in a dark beeswax.
