French Polishing
18th Century Rosewood Bookcase
I had the absolute pleasure of restoring and French polishing this 18th Century rosewood bookcase. The bookcase was in a terrible state with water damage, a build-up of dirt and heavy staining.
Once stripped, I neutralised with a thinner, gave the period piece a light sand maintaining its character and then added a Jenkins rosewood grain filler. Once dry I proceeded to French polish finishing in a dark beeswax. The rosewood’s character spoke for itself so refrained from staining at all.
