ABOUT THE COURSE
This one day course at our Cotswold workshop is designed to give the student the fundamental basics of wood and furniture repairs. We’ll be using the incredible Konig furniture repair kit and traditional French polishing methods to fill holes, improve bruises, fill scratches and paint grain back in. We’ll also look at remedial finishes without fully stripping furniture.
Each student will work on a small or medium piece of furniture allowing them to go through the full process within one working day. If the student doesn’t have a piece to work on then we can work on sample boards provided here.
THE COURSE COVERS THE FOLLOWING:-
- Health and Safety
- Konig furniture repair kit – Heat gun tuition, hard wax, soft wax, graining pens, graining paints, edging and stain applications
- Traditional filling and shellac earth pigment touching in – wood grain artistry
- Meths/Steel wool cleaning and Died wax application
This 1 day workshop is designed for groups of 1 to 4 so to maximise the students learning and for the items of furniture to be finished before the course ends.
Ideal to match this with the French polishing or mid century restoration workshops.
