ABOUT THE COURSE
This 2 Day Contemporary Furniture Refinishing Workshop is designed to give the student all the fundamental practical skills needed to paint and upcycle furniture to a professional level. This along with the added woodcare knowledge will allow the students to sympathetically restore any piece of furniture whether it’s with paint or naturally.
The student will bring two small or one medium/large piece of furniture to work on which will go through my very own professional process. Acrylic eggshell will be used due to its quick drying times, however we will discuss all types of paints in material discussions.
THE COURSE COVERS THE FOLLOWING:-
- Health and Safety
- Concept mock up on paper – including colours, design, materials needed Materials discussion
- Stripping, neutralising and sanding/woodcare techniques
- Stain blocking, priming, knotting and undercoating
- Painting, rolling and cutting back techniques
- Finishes – waxes, varnishes, stains, oils, polishes
- Hardware discussion (student to bring hardware if needed)
- Staging and photography
The course is designed for groups of 1 or 4 so to maximise the students learning and for the items of furniture to be finished before the course ends. Covid regulations in place. If you wanted a bespoke package then we can mix and match to make sure you gain everything you need from the workshop.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?
All power tools/hand tools, abrasives, masking, stain blocking and primers, brushes and wood finishes provided.
An apron, mask, top coat paint choice and furniture to be provided by the student.
