Northwick Business Centre,
Along with the rosewood bookshelf this bow fronted Edwardian chest of drawers came into the Blockley workshop for a refinishing commission.
The drawer fronts were made from flame cut mahogany which came up really nicely once stripped and neutralised. I French polished these after a very light sand. The carcass needed a bit more of work as there was Edwardian white grain filler which had bleached along with sun bleaching on the veneers.
I sanded right back to remove any filler in the grain, I then applied a grain filler, shellac, stipple and then bodied up to get a beautiful sheen.
The time and effort was indeed worth it as the end result is something i’m very proud with.
